Azerbaijan, Baku, March 16 /Trend E.Ismayilov/
SOCAR Petroleum will begin the construction of gas stations in Siyazan in Azerbaijan by April, a source at SOCAR told Trend on Friday.
The source noted that the preliminary work is being implemented to begin the construction of two gas stations in the area of Siyazan. "The preparation is being held at the moment, particularly geological work, and the construction will begin very soon." The source said.
These filling stations will be the first in Azerbaijan, which the company will build outside of Baku.
The source said the construction of a petrol station in Sabunchu district of Baku is nearing completion currently.
"The station is almost ready to go, only minor changes remains, after which it will be available to serve drivers," the source said.
About 10 filling stations will be constructed and commissioned in 2012.
There are 14 filling stations operating under SOCAR brand in Baku.
It is planned to increase the number of SOCAR filling stations to 100 in the country. They will be located in large cities and at the entrances and exits in each district.
SOCAR Petroleum shareholders are SOCAR (51%) and the American A.P. International (49%). SOCAR Petroleum was registered on Jan. 21, 2008.
