By Fikret Dolukhanov – Trend:

Uzbekistan will experimentally introduce electricity and gas consumption norms from Jan. 1, 2019, Uzbek media reported referring to a draft government decree, which was published on social networks.

Implementation of the pilot project will begin in the Yunusabad district of Tashkent.

The base rate of electricity consumption will be 300 kilowatts/hour per month, gas – 1,000 cubic meters per month for private houses during the heating season and 250 cubic meters per month in other cases. If the base rate is exceeded, the payment for the additional volume will be at a factor of 1.2.

According to the results of the pilot project, the Finance Ministry, the Economy Ministry, Uzbekenergo (state energy operator) and Uzbekneftegaz (state oil and gas company) will have to prepare proposals for the further application of the consumption norms throughout the country by July 1, 2019.

The authenticity of this document has yet to be confirmed by Uzbek officials though.
