Under the terms of sanctions, private sector in Iran can help the government sell oil, an Iranian conservative politician who served a member of the Parliament of Iran from 2012 to 2016, Hossein Nejabat told Trend.

Iran is going to start offering oil via its stock exchange.

Referring to this plan, Nejabat said the oil stock is very positive, adding that it mush be offered in rials.

"This plan was initiated in the past, and I think it failed because of the pricing method. Now, the situation is more sensitive. So, now the private sector will also pursue it own benefits here, and will welcome this plan. And, jf course, there should be companies and individuals who have the ability to compete at the exchange,” he said.

Referring to the possibility of increasing the rent seeking by offering oil at the energy exchange, Nejabat said that one of the important issues is transparency, which is unfortunately sometimes lost in between economic decisions.

“Transparency depends on implementation of the plan by executives. According to the reports, the oil minister agrees and, if so the fight against rent-seeking is on the agenda,” Nejabat said.
