Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Babayeva / The Accounting Chamber of Azerbaijan (AC) discussed the results of the audit held in Azerenerji JSC over the finances allocated from the State budget of Azerbaijan in 2005 until 1 July 2006 under the heading "Industrial and construction expenses".
An audit was also held of finances allocated for the construction of a combined-cycle plant in Sumgait with a capacity of 506 mVt. As a result of the audit, it was made clear that during the construction of the module station and combined-cycle plant in Sumgait, an incorrect account of prices was made and Azerenerji has directly concluded contracts with the contractors. Thus, the law "On State purchases" has been violated.
In addition, rules were violated on realization of the project confirmed by the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, especially prepayments having been made for incomplete construction work, which has not been envisaged for the construction. The employees of Azerenerji, who participated in the audit, stated that the prepayments will be taken into consideration in 2007.
As a result of the audit, the decision was made to notify the Head of Azerenerji and Parliament.
