SOCAR Energy Georgia to Own Petrol Stations in Georgia

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend V. Sharifov / A high-ranking official of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) reported on April 3rd that SOCAR Energy Georgia will own six petrol stations in Georgia by the end of 2007.

The territory for construction of a large petrol station has been allotted to Tblisi.

"SOCAR Energy Georgia will sell Azerbaijani oil products to Georgia's internal market through its own petrol stations. Moreover, the petrol of higher octant number, which is not produced at Baku Oil-Refining Plants, might be sold here," the official stated.

SOCAR Energy Georgia provides 40-45% of the Georgian motor petrol market with Azerbaijani petrol.

"Monthly the company supplies 15,000 tons of motor petrol to Georgia, whilst the demand is 30,000 tons," the representative of SOCAR added.
