Azerbaijani primary provider involved in providing Iraq with Russian operator's Internet services

Azerbaijani primary provider - Delta Telecom is involved in providing Internet services in Iraq, Russia's national operator Rostelecom said.

Internet services will be provided on the basis of the agreement signed between Rostelecom and Iraqi company IQ Networks. According to it, the operator will provide the Internet services using Rostelecom's fully-terrestrial communication infrastructure.

Rostelecom's partner in this project is Iranian Telecommunication Infrastructure Company (TIC). It will also provide transit portion of the channel between Russia and Iraq. This route is first used by operators of Iraq to connect to the internet.

Traffic is transited according to the signed agreement to provide bilateral rental services of international digital channels between Rostelecom and Iranian TIC, Delta Telecom techical director Rahid Alekperli told Trend.

At present, one of the eight trunk lines, with capacity of 10-gigabit, is fully completed. The work is underway to connect a second 10-gigabit line.

Relations between Rostelecom and Delta Telecom are based on DWDM technologies. It allows Azerbaijani provider to render high-quality transit services.
