Azerbaijani Communications Ministry provide new prefixes for deployment of smart services in fixed-line communications

The Azerbaijani Communications and Information Technologies Ministry allocated 13 three-digit prefixes to organize Call-centers in the PSTN and provide smart services, the Ministry said today.

The Azerbaijani Communications and Information Technologies Ministry provided 13 three-digit prefixes to organize Call-centers in the PSTN and provide smart services, the Ministry said today.

According to the Ministry, also 70,000 prefixes were granted to operators of fixed communications, six million prefixes were allocated for use in mobile communication network and 30,000 prefixes - to provide wireless CDMA services.

The ministry appealed to the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) in order to identify prefixes of the Azerbaijani telecommunication operators in the networks of international operators.  

ITU Telecommunication Standardization Bureau is the executive branch of the Standardization Sector, organizing and coordinating the approval process for orders of the Standardization Sector, as well as their timely publication and dissemination among the ITU members.

According to the Ministry, the Ministry officially appealed in due to the problems associated with the dialing of numbers of fixed and mobile communication operators of Azerbaijan, conducted abroad, which causes subscribers' dissatisfaction. The Ministry's written appeal was also sent to 357 operators, operating in the 217 member countries of ITU.
