By Huseyn Veliyev – Trend:

Some sixteen percent of Azerbaijan's corporate users are exposed to cyber attacks online, Managing Director of Kaspersky Lab Inc. company in Russia and the CIS Sergey Zemkov told Trend.

Zemkov said this figure is 19 percent for Russia, Kazakhstan, 23 percent – for Belarus.

"Of course, the low figure for Azerbaijan suggests that corporate users in the country are better protected. It is possible that the high level of their preparation contributes to such good protection. The companies are actively working to improve their security. Unfortunately, the level of piracy is high in the segment of personal users and in the segment of small and medium-sized businesses. When we provide statistics, we rely on the data collected from the licensed users," Zemkov said.

Almost all Internet traffic in Azerbaijan enters the country through the main network of Delta Telecom company, the managing director of Kaspersky Lab Inc. company said.

"That is, the market is quite concentrated and here, at the internal level, the active web threats can be controlled. Due to the small number of entry points of global Internet traffic, it is not so difficult to organize a higher level of security in small countries. In Turkmenistan, for example, there are no web threats at all, as the country is isolated from the global network and web threats appear in the form of information transfer through external memory storages," Zemkov said.
