Aztelekom Begins Constructing Optic Cable within Electronic Shamakhy Project

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Babayeva / By the end of year, the Aztelekom Production Unit of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan will complete the pilot project "Electronic Shamakhy" which envisages creating Next Generation Network (NGN), said Aztelekom's Director General, Mammad Mammadov.

According to him, construction assembly works are currently being carried out, equipment has been received for the station and construction of the optic cable has begun.

The total capacity of the new network in Shamakhy will make up 16,976 ports. It will cover the Central Automatic Telephone Exchange of the district and 23 automatic exchanges in the villages of the region.

"If the project justifies itself, we will realize the same project all over the country," Mammadov said.

NGN (Next Generation Network) is a universal multi-purpose network for transmitting speech, images and data by using commutations of packages. NGN Network ensures the quality of service necessary for different kinds of telecommunication traffic. Introducing this technology will allow the subscribers to take advantage of using such services like VIP-telephone, voice mail, data transmission service, multimedia services, private virtual networks, unified message exchange, on-line message exchange, interactive speech reply services, interactive games, video conferences and home manager.
