Uzrailpass, Uzbekistan's train servicing enterprise presented modern cars for the Shark train, which will unload the Afrosiab high-speed trains and create the most comfortable conditions for serving tourists in Uzbekistan, Uzbek media reported.
Back in August 2018 Uzbekistan Railways was considering possibility of repairing Nasaf, Registan and Shark trains with creation of comfortable conditions in them through the installation of an air-conditioning system. The move would help solving the problem of congestion on the Afrosiab trains.
The Tashkent car-repair construction plant is currently carrying on work on repairing and modernization of five cars with a total capacity of 240 seats. The cars are scheduled for commissioning by the end of September. The places in this cars will be provided only to travel companies in case of shortage of seats on the high-speed Afrosiab trains.
In addition, the Uzbekistan Railways is negotiating with the Spanish Talgo and the Korean Hyundai to purchase new high-speed trains.
Uzbekistan Railways has been using trains and passenger cars of the Spanish Talgo for over six years. They were named after the ancient settlement Afrosiab. Four Afrosiab trains are serving passengers on the Tashkent-Karshi, Tashkent-Bukhara, Tashkent-Samarkand routes.
