Kazakhstan to develop tourism in national parks

Kazakhstan is to develop tourism on the territory of national parks, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan.

The corresponding agreement has been signed between national Kazakh Tourism company on one side and Charyn National Park, Ile-Alatau National Park and Kolsay Lakes National Park on the other.

“The implementation of a new model will allow to increase the tourist flow from 1.3 million tourists a year to 3.4 million tourists a year till 2025. The main condition of the agreement is to preserve the biodiversity of the existing flora and fauna,” the report said.

“These measures will allow to create up to 20,000 new work places and to attract some 100 million tenge of investments during following five or seven years,” the statement said.

In accordance to the signed agreement, the implementation of a new model, which uses best international practices for development of sustainable tourism is planned in the pilot project.

“The tourism potential of the national parks is not used enough currently. This is why it is planned to test the new management program on the territory of three parks for development of sustainable ecological tourism,” Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan Magzum Mirzagaliyev said.

He further noted that this work will be aimed at development, implementation and promotion of innovative ideas, programs, projects and technologies aimed at development of high-quality tourism infrastructure with preservation of existing ecosystem.

The attraction of international experts and organizations in the sphere is also planned.

“The successful realization of the pilot projects will allow to implement the practice on the territory of all 13 national parks of the country,” the report said.
