About 9 trillion rials ($215 million) has been allocated for the construction of Hamadan-Sanandaj railway between Hamadan and Kurdistan provinces over the past three years, Deputy Governor of Kurdistan Province Shahram Maleki told IRNA, Trend reports.
According to Maleki, the construction of the Hamadan-Sanandaj railway has accelerated since the commissioning of the 268-kilometer Tehran-Hamadan railway in 2017.
The deputy governor added that the length of the Hamadan-Sanandaj railway is 151 kilometers, and it consists of three parts. The infrastructure work has been completed on the third section, which is 30 km long.
"The infrastructure work on the first 65-kilometer long section is completed by 71 percent, and on the second section, which is 56 kilometers long - by 41 percent," he said.
Maleki emphasized that the issue of connection of the Hamadan-Sanandaj railway to the Bashmaq border customs is being considered.
The deputy governor noted that plan has been submitted to Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development for approval.
The Bashmaq border customs is one of the border customs between Iran and Iraq.
