As many as 470 locomotives, freight and passenger wagons manufactured or repaired in Iran were put into operation in the country on March 16, 2022, Trend reports citing the Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Ghasemi, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and the CEO of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways Miad Salehi and other officials attended the event dedicated in this regard.

Speaking at the event Deputy Minister Roads and Urban Development and the CEO of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways Miad Salehi said that 8 new locomotives, as well as 4 repaired locomotives, were put into operation in the country.

“Also, 423 new freight wagons and 31 repaired freight wagons, as well as 4 new passenger wagons were put into operation in Iran on March 16,” he added.

The deputy minister emphasized that a total of 13.5 trillion rials (about $321 million) has been spent on railway vehicles.
