On Monday morning Forum of European and Asian Media (FEAM) will start in Astana, reports Trend.

FEAM-2011 can be considered special, because it is starting on the eve of 20th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in the jubilee year of the CIS countries. The forum, which is regularly since 2006, organized by "RIA Novosti", will bring together more than 250 media executives, politicians, bloggers and analysts from more than a dozen countries in Europe and Asia.

Sixth Forum of European and Asian Media (FEAM), organized by the, "RIA Novosti" media holding, started in Astana under the motto "20 years of independence: media and society."

The forum was attended by over 250 representatives of mass media of CIS, Baltic States and Georgia, including media executives and leading media industry executives of post-Soviet space, bloggers, experts, analysts. Film director Nikita Mikhalkov was invited as a special guest.

"FEAM this year, uses technology and a new type of approach, it will be remembered not by the use of modern technology, but by many new formats. For example, electronic voting will be held for the topic of the future forum, a discussion format "wall to wall" will solve the question of whether should or should not be responsible users of social networks for the content of their posts,"- said the chief editor of RIA Novosti, Svetlana Mironyuk.

One of the new formats FEAMa, referred to, are the so-called tweet-wall: they are both on the screen will be displayed and its dedicated forum topics posts of users Twitter. The official hashtag of the forum is # feam2011.

Key themes FEAM-2011 will be the peculiarities of the media in the rapid development of information technologies and the challenges of the information society the modern world.

The credibility and importance of the forum have repeatedly stated, Leonid Kuchma, President Dmitry Medvedev and others.

"Your forum - this is a unique project designed to solve a common task: to prepare an information area of our countries for equal partnership and fair competition, while maintaining the freedom of speech, tolerance and respect for each other," - said the Ukrainian leader Viktor Yanukovych.

At the opening of the Forum of European and Asian media presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia Dmitry Medvedev and Nursultan Nazarbayev, as well as officials from the CIS Executive Committee are expected to welcome to the forum.

Forum of European and Asian Media (FEAM) was first held by RIA Novosti in 2006. The aim was the union of the journalistic community of the former Soviet republics. Today FEAM is a unique place that has no analogues in the former Soviet space, which allows media representatives from the CIS countries, Baltic states and Georgia to discuss and predict the processes of media sphere, as well as share their experiences. Traditionally, the forum is attended by leading politicians and public figures.

The geography of the forum is constantly expanding. Last year FEAM held in Kiev. Prior to that, four years in a row, Moscow hosted the representatives of the media community. Now, the baton passed to the capital of Kazakhstan. The choice of Astana as the site for FEAM at the 20th anniversary of the Commonwealth will, on the one hand, stress the productive nature of multilateral cooperation between CIS countries, on the other - to support the idea of equal information exchange media independent states.
