The Kazakh government approved the draft program for 2012 -2016 to combat drug abuse and drug trafficking in the country, Kazakh Prime Minister's press-service reported on Tuesday.

The program envisages a plan of 102 actions and is aimed at different spheres.

First of all, the program should improve the system of prevention, addiction treatment and development of rehabilitation of drug addicts.

Moreover, the program envisages suppression of illegal drug trafficking following strengthening of the mechanism of preventing of illegal trafficking of drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors.

The program also should strengthen the international cooperation in the sphere of control and prevention of illegal drug trafficking and strengthen the borders in the south of the country.

"The implementation of the program will allow to stabilize the drug abuse situation, reduce the drugs trafficking in the country and through the territory of Kazakhstan, as well as to develop the anti-drug propaganda and prevention of drug abuse, improve the efficiency of treatment and rehabilitation of drug-addicted people," the press-service reported.
