The new concept of the investment policy of Kazakhstan will take into account the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles, Zhandos Temirgali, deputy board chairman of Kazakhstan's Kazakh Invest NC JSC, told Trend.
According to Temirgali, the government of Kazakhstan is developing a new concept of investment policy that will meet the challenges of the present moment, and the international investment community as a whole has formed expectations regarding the reforms that are being carried out in Kazakhstan.
In general, the new concept of investment policy will cover all aspects of this issue such as attracting new investments, working with current investors, legislation and others, he stressed.
This, according to the company’s representative, means that the state is considering the processes from viewpoint of solving environmental problems, creating eco-friendly industries in Kazakhstan, as well as the social responsibility of business, Temirgali added.
"This is very important because implies the creation of quality jobs, that is fair wages, safe jobs in all industries and, of course, taking into account the constant need to improve the skills of local personnel," he said.
According to him, all these aspects are important for the state and the creation of jobs is one of the main priorities.
"I would also like to note that a new investment cycle is being launched, which once again emphasizes the importance of priority sectors, such as renewable energy, the processing sector and the overall diversification of the economy," the board chairman said.
"A serious privatization of state assets, including the privatization of the Samruk Kazyna fund, will be also carried out in Kazakhstan," concluded Temirgali.
