A temporary ban on the import of products from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan may be lifted after an inspection carried out in the Republic of Kazakhstan by the Customs Union's (CU) veterinary services, Kazakh Agriculture Ministry press service said, KirTAG reported.

"Regarding the import of meat from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan, due to an unstable epizootic situation, earlier the Kazakh veterinary service imposed temporary restrictions on imports from Kyrgyzstan of animals susceptible to FMD, as well as products and raw materials derived from them. The decision to abolish this restriction is only possible after inspection of Kyrgyz companies by the veterinary services of CU member countries," the Ministry of Agriculture spokesperson said.

The Ministry of Agriculture's statement does not define whether the named ban also applies to the import of animals susceptible to anthrax, as well as products and raw materials derived from them.

As reported, diagnosis of anthrax was confirmed in four people in the district of Talas.

"Out of nine people waiting for laboratory test results for anthrax, the diagnosis was confirmed in two patients. Another seven are awaiting the results of laboratory studies. Currently the diagnosis of anthrax was confirmed in four people," the Disease Prevention Department of Kazakh Ministry of Health told KirTAG on Thursday.

According to the Head of the Department of Supervision and Prevention of Infectious Diseases Dinagul Otorbaeva, initially the Tula Regional Hospital received 16 people with suspected anthrax.

From September 7 to September 21, the village of Yntymak in the Buckeye Ata district of the Talas region has been quarantined.
