Ashgabat has hosted a seminar on "E-Government and E-Workflow" organized by the Institute for Democracy and Turkmen Presidential Human Rights and USAID.

The seminar was held under a project to promote good governance in Turkmenistan. The organizers reported that the representatives of parliament, ministries and departments attended the event.

"The two-day seminar familiarized participants with the basic objectives and principles of e-government and its prospects in Turkmenistan," they reported.

Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov recently noted 'the relevance of taking urgent measures for the widespread introduction of e-workflow'.

It is expected that the new scheme will be organized in the energy industry, chemical and processing industries, as well as spheres of construction, transport, telecommunications, medicine, industry, textiles and agribusiness.

The Turkmen government discusses cooperation in this field with the UN.
