VII Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia of the CIS member-states will be held at Turkmenistan's initiative in Ashgabat on October 15-16, the Turkmen government said today.
Turkmenistan chairs the Commonwealth this year.
This was stated at a meeting between Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and chairman of the Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev in Ashgabat.
Lebedev expressed confidence that strong relations of friendship, trust and understanding existing between the brotherly peoples of the Commonwealth, will continue to serve to successfully implement the organization's objectives.
The two sides expressed confidence that the meetings in the Turkmen capital will be an important step to intensify the multi-format cooperation meeting the interests of the peoples and the Commonwealth countries.
The 55th meeting of the CIS Economic Council started its activity in the Turkmen capital on Firday. The concept of Turkmenistan's presidency in the CIS ensures holding more than 30 major events, including the Summit of CIS Heads of States in Ashgabat.
