Tashkent 'Safe City' project to be launched in test mode by late 2019

The 'Safe City' project, featuring a modern fire detection system and installation of special cameras conducting round the clock surveillance of all objects, will be launched in test mode in Tashkent, Uzbekistan by 2019.

The 'Safe City' project is to be implemented in all regional centers and large cities of Uzbekistan from 2019 to 2021, and until 2023 - it will cover the whole country.

The first, experimental stage of the project, is designed for 2017-2019. It provides for the creation of a complex "Safe City" with video surveillance systems, video analytics and automated system for the reception and registration of reports on crimes and incidents in the capital city- Tashkent.

In 2018-2019, the project of public intelligent parking for vehicles will be implemented with the use of advanced recognition technologies and online payment.

The Center for Information Security and Assistance in Ensuring Public Order of the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications will carry out work on introduction of the complex.

Recently, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev appointed Mirodil Sangilov as the new deputy minister for the ICT development. Sangilov will manage the 'Safe City' project, which is under the personal control of the President, local media reports.
