Costs for registering trademarks abroad to be compensated in Uzbekistan

Compensation for the costs of sending product samples to foreign trading houses and showrooms will be carried out through the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the Uztekstilprom (Uzbekistan Textile Industry) Association.

Financial assistance to exporters, in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, as before, will be provided by the Export Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.

According to Uztekstilprom Association, the list of spheres in which financial assistance is provided has been updated. The list of costs for which financial assistance is provided has also been expanded.

It was noted that to receive financial assistance, the exporter should fill out the approved application forms and application forms, with the necessary documents attached, depending on the area.

The list of attached documents has been mostly changed. It is no longer necessary to provide information about the exporter's absence of tax arrears and overdue accounts payable and receivable.

However, the association noted that the presence of overdue receivables on export operations is one of the grounds for refusing to provide financial assistance.

The amount of financial assistance in order to reimburse the supplier of goods (works, services) amounts to 100 percent, but not more than $20,000 for the implementation of one international standard and obtaining one certificate in the field of standards implementation and obtaining certificates of conformity.

In the field of presentations and advertising campaigns to promote local products and brands to foreign markets, the amount of financial assistance accounts for 100 percent, but not more than $20,000 per calendar year for one exporter.

In the field of participation in international tenders and competitions it amounts to 100 percent. For registration of domestic products and trademarks in foreign authorized bodies - 100 percent, but not more than $10,000 per exporter.

As for the representations of Uzbekistan abroad, the amount of financial assistance in order to compensate the costs of the supplier of goods accounts for 100 percent, but not more than $2,000 per calendar year for one exporter.

Payments are made directly to suppliers of goods (work, services) on the basis of contracts concluded by the Agency.

The grounds for refusing to provide financial assistance have also been supplemented. Now they include the incomplete submission of the relevant documents, non-compliance of the requested financial assistance with the approved procedures and requirements, the presence of overdue receivables for export operations, as well as the presentation of inaccurate or distorted information in the documents.
