Uzbekistan reveals total insurance payments for 2020

Some 45 insurance organizations operating in Uzbekistan signed 5.9 million insurance contracts in 2020, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, insurance companies in Uzbekistan received 2.3 trillion soums ($218 million) in 2020 due to premiums (insurance contributions), of which voluntary insurance amounted to two trillion soums ($190 million), and compulsory insurance - 360 billion soums ($34 million).

In is reported that the total amount of insurance payments during the reporting period amounted to 726 billion soums ($69 million), of which voluntary insurance accounted for 591 billion soums ($56 million), while compulsory insurance amounted to 135 billion soums ($13 million).

In addition, 45 insurance organizations operating in Uzbekistan signed 5.9 million insurance contracts in 2020. The number of contracts fell by 19.7 percent compared to 2019, but their total insured amount increased by 30.5 percent or 210.4 trillion soums ($20 billion) to 901 trillion soums ($85 billion).

Also, voluntary insurance accounted for 67.7 percent or 609 trillion soums ($58 billion) of the total insured amount, while the share of compulsory insurance amounted to 32.3 percent or 291 trillion soums ($28 billion).
