Iran's deputy foreign minister meets North Korean number two official

(IRNA) - Deputy Foreign minister for Asia-Pacific Affairs Mehdi Safari met Friday with Chairman of North Korea's presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly Kim Yong-Nam.

Promotion of mutual economic cooperation was the most important aspect of talks between Safari and Kim Yong-Nam.

They also discussed issues of mutual interest and subjects related to bilateral cooperation, and regional and international developments, reports Trend.

Safari, who arrived in Pyongyang Thursday evening, is to meet North Korea's senior cultural officials and sign an agreement with the North Korean party for cultural cooperation in the years 2007 to 2009.

He is also to meet and confer with North Korea's Minister of Foreign Trade Rim Kyong Man on ways of expanding bilateral economic relations.
