Iran says it will response to any intervening action of the United States over the country's military programs.
The Spokesman of Iran's Foreign Ministry Jaber Ansari said that adding sanctions by US over Iranians or Iranian entities, involved in military programs are illegal, arbitrary and unilateral, Fars News Agency reported on Dec.31.
The Obama administration is preparing to sanction nearly a dozen companies and individuals in Iran, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates for their role in developing Iran's ballistic-missile program, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing United States officials on Dec.30.
Senior United States officials have said the Treasury retained a right under the nuclear agreement to blacklist Iranian entities allegedly involved in missile development as well as those that support international terrorism and human-rights abuses, the Journal said.
Iran violated a U.N. Security Council resolution in October by test-firing a missile capable of delivering a nuclear warhead, a team of sanctions monitors said, leading to calls in the U.S. Congress on Tuesday for more sanctions on Tehran.
Ansari said that Iran has right to strengthen its defense capabilities and national security.
