BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 3

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran can export various military and non-military maritime equipment worth several billions of US dollars a year, Head of Iranian Defense Ministry’s Marine Industries Organization Rear Admiral Amir Rastegari told journalists, Trend reports citing Tasnim news agency.

The rear admiral emphasized that Iran's relations and trade turnover in this area may increase after the lifting of the arms embargo against the country.

Elsewhere, he said that the 'Dena' destroyer will be delivered to the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy tin the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020 - March 21, 2021).

Also, Rastehari noted that the manufacturing of the 'Besat' submarine has begun.

"It usually takes about 15 years to manufacture a submarine, when doing it the first time. Based on Iran's experience in the manufacturing of Fateh and Ghadir submarines, the efforts are being made to reduce this time," he said.

According to the rear admiral, at the same time, it is hoped that the 'Pirouzan' hovercraft will be produced by the end of the current Iranian year and handed over to the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy.

"This hovercraft has a high speed and the ability to evade radars,” he said.

According to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action between Iran and the 5 + 1 group, the UN Security Council is expected to lift the arms embargo on Iran by October 17, 2020.
