Influenza toll continues to rise in Iran, as 112 people have already died, according to the Iranian Health Ministrys Epidemics Center Director Mohammad Mehdi Gooya.
The official said 20 percent of Iranians are expected to catch the influenza virus, five percent of whom will suffer the severe version of the disease which leads to death, Mizan news agency reported December 28.
He said Iran has sufficient medicine as well as 13 laboratories specializing in the area of the disease.
He added that 1,190 people have so far been hospitalized with the disease.
The disease broke out in Kerman Province in central Iran and spread out from there.
