Iraq has called for holding a meeting of the Arab states' chiefs of staff over the ongoing Gaza violence, Arab League (AL) Secretary-General Nabil al-Arabi said Wednesday, Xinhua reported.
"There is a suggestion from the Iraqi state to hold a meeting with the Arab states' chiefs of staff, to discuss the risks of the region is exposed to amid the Israeli aggression on Gaza", al- Arabi told a press conference at the AL headquarters.
"The invitation for the meeting has been sent to all Arab countries, and we are waiting for their reply", he added.
Israel's aerial offensive over Gaza entered the eighth day on Wednesday, as the death toll on the Palestinian side has reached 137 as of Tuesday night, with over 800 wounded, while five Israelis were killed due to rockets fired by Gaza militants.
