In the first quarter of 2017, exports from Turkey amounted to $37.869 billion, which is 9.2 percent more than in the same period of 2016, reads a report of the Turkish Statistical Institute.
Meanwhile, Turkey imported goods worth $50.394 billion in January-March 2017, which is 7.7 percent more than in the same period of 2016, when the country’s import was $46.796 billion.
Germany heads the list of Turkey’s largest trading partners, according to the report. The country imported Turkish goods worth $3.561 billion and exported goods worth $4.404 billion in the first quarter of 2017.
In January-March 2017, the highest growth rate in Turkish trade accounted for the trade with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
During a year, Turkish exports to the UAE increased by 180 percent to $2.621 billion. Meanwhile, Turkey’s imports from the UAE increased by 291 percent and reached $1.540 billion in January-March 2017.
Turkish exports to Russia increased by 40.9 percent in January-March 2017 to reach $498 million. In turn, Turkey increased imports from Russia by 11.5 percent, bringing its volume up to $ 4.383 billion.
