The construction of new Bayburt Gumushane Airport in the Gumushane region is nearing completion, ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.
Currently, the construction of the airport is more than 80 percent complete.
It is expected that the Bayburt Gumushane airport will be commissioned in 2020, the ministry said.
After commissioning, the airport will be able to serve about two million passengers annually.
There will be one runway strip at the Bayburt Gumushane airport, with a length of 3 kilometers.
The project cost is 175 million Turkish liras ($30.1 million), the ministry said.
