At least 11 civilians were killed Sunday when Syrian security forces fired on anti-government protesters in several areas of the country, according to opposition activists, dpa reported.
The deaths occurred in the restive cities of Homs, Hama and Idlib, said the General Syrian Revolution Committee, a network of activists.
Mass demonstrations were held in several parts of Syria on Sunday, the first day of the Muslim festival Eid al-Adha, the group added.
