Israel, Jerusalem, 23 January / Trend corr.R.Abdullayev / The most European countries subject Israel to criticism as the country block the Gas sector and undergo its population to mass punishment. However, strangely enough, Franko Fratini, the vice-president of the European Commission, supported toughening of sanctions on the Gas sector, undertaken by Israel recently, ISRA reports.

The vice-president stated that the Gas sector may have to leave without the electricity, NRG-Maariv web-site reports. According to Fratini, stop of fuel and electricity to the regions should not be valued as the military crime.

" Israel has been tolerated to kassam for seven years," Fratini said to journalists in Tel-Aviv. Israel is prepared, as I believe, to promote strengthening of Abu-Mazen and soften the life in Palestine. At the same time Israel needs to protect itself. I consider right the Israeli position, which helps Palestinian people in the Gas sector to understand that HAMAS caused catastrophe to the region.

The vice-president noted that he may even support the further leading of NATO military forces in the Sector in order to stabilize the situation in the region and strengthen the power of Abu-Mazen.

Fratini urged that during the first year of Al-Aks intifade, in 2001, Europe did not want to listen to arguments of Israel and supported Palestinians. However, the positions of European leaders have changed later. "Europe considers Israel its close friend, and therefore, its has right to criticize European states," Fratini stated.
