Incumbent Tadic leads in early vote count

( dpa )- Pro-European incumbent Boris Tadic was leading nationalist Tomislav Nikolic in early vote counting, the private election monitoring agency Cesid said Sunday, 90 minutes after polls closed ended in the Serbian presidential runoff.

Basing its projection with 90 per cent of its usually reliable sample counted, Cesid gave Tadic an edge of 50.5 to 47.9 per cent over Nikolic .

Cesid's figures project Tadic's win amid high turnout of 67 per cent of Serbia's 6.7 million registered voters.

The central election commission was due to release its partial results shortly.
