( AFP ) - A bus has veered off a highway in southern Spain and overturned, killing eight people and injuring at least 16 others, including one child, officials from the emergency services said.
The cause of the accident, which happened near the Mediterranean port city of Malaga, was not immediately clear. South-western Spain has been lashed by strong winds and rain over the weekend.
Several injured people were still trapped inside the wreckage of the bus, the online edition of daily newspaper El Mundo reported, citing a regional representative of the central Government.
Some of the injured were thought to be from Finland, the Europa Press news agency reported.
Those hurt were taken to five different hospitals along the Costa del Sol, a popular destination for northern European sun seekers, the agency added.
