An agreement on equal rights to the freedom of movement and the choice of residence for citizens of Belarus and Russia will come into force by the end of the year, Deputy Director of the Federal Migration Service of Russia Yekaterina Yegorova said during the scientific and practical conference "Social development of the Union State - status and prospects" in Moscow on November 11.
She specified the document will come into force after the parties have exchanged ratification instruments, reported Belta.
According to Yekaterina Yegorova, the agreement includes three vital things facilitating the stay of Belarusians and Russians in the neighbouring state. In particular, the document allows Belarusians to stay in Russia and Russians to stay in Belarus for 30 days without registration. Citizens of the two states will be allowed to acquire permits for residence in the neighbouring country without a sojourn permit and residence qualification. Apart from that, the agreement confirms the established practice when citizens of the two states cross the Belarusian-Russian border without filling in migration cards.
The agreement specifies documents, which allow crossing the Belarusian-Russian border. In particular, Russian children will be able to come to Belarus using birth certificates.
The agreement will positively influence the guarantee of the security of rights of citizens of Belarus and Russia and will contribute to legal migration, stressed the Deputy Director of the Federal Migration Service of Russia.
