( Irna ) - Prominent Shia leader and former chairman of the All parties Hurriyat Conference, Maulana Muhammad Abbas Ansari has appealed to Kashmiris to boycott US-made goods in order to show their resentment to Washington's policies towards Muslims.

The appeal comes in the backdrop of the recent blasts at one of the most revered Shiite shrines in the Iraqi city of Samarra.

Addressing a big public gathering at Pattan in northern Baramulla district, Saturday, Maulana Abbas severely condemned the damage caused to the shrine, and held the US and its allies directly responsible for the death and destruction in Iraq.

The Maulana deplored that Kashmiris still used goods and products manufactured in the US.

"We raise anti-US slogans wearing US-made clothes. We must cast away these garments and express outrage against the US," he said.

Maulana Abbas said that Kashmiris should boycott American products in view of the US violence and aggression towards Muslims.

Kashmir has witnessed widespread protest demonstrations over the past several days against bombings of religious sites in Iraq.

Tens of thousands of Kashmiri Muslims visit Iraq every year to pay obedience at the highly revered religious sites particularly those of Kerbala, Najaf and Samarra.
