TOP 5 countries visited by Turkish citizens for employment

For employment purposes, Turkish citizens mainly visit Saudi Arabia, Russia, Germany, Algeria and Iraq, a source in the Main Department of the Turkish Employment Agency (ISKUR) told Trend.

In January-July 2019, Turkish citizens visited Saudi Arabia most of all for the employment purposes, according to the report. The number of Turkish citizens visiting Saudi Arabia through ISKUR to find work decreased by 17.2 percent compared to the same period in 2018.

The source noted that for the seven months of 2019, 1,200 Turkish citizens visited Saudi Arabia through the service.

“In January-July 2019, the number of Turkish citizens visiting Russia through ISKUR to find work decreased by 21 percent compared to the same period in 2018 and amounted to 1,200 people,” the source added.

In first seven months of this year, the number of Turkish citizens visiting Germany through ISKUR to find work increased by 44 percent compared to the same period in 2018, and amounted to 1,200 people.

“Algeria ranks fourth in the list of job search destinations: in January-July, 961 Turkish citizens visited this country through ISKUR, which is 43.6 percent less compared to the same period in 2018,” the source said.

In January-July 2019, the number of Turkish citizens visiting Iraq through the service to find work increased by 92.2 percent compared to the same period in 2018 and amounted to 859 people.

In general, in the reported period, 11,100 Turkish citizens went abroad through the agency, which is 13.4 percent less compared to the same period last year.

According to ISKUR, in July 2019, 158,000 Turkish citizens were provided with jobs in Turkey, which is 17.9 percent more compared to the same month last year.

Of those employed in July 2019 in Turkey, men and women accounted for 68.7 and 31.3 percent, respectively. Among them, 99.7 percent accounted for the private sector. The number of unemployed in Turkey amounted to 4.039 million people, 50.2 percent of which consisted of women and 49.8 percent of men.
