Azerbaijan significantly cuts goods import from Georgia

Azerbaijan reduced goods import from Georgia by more than 4.5 times – up to $10.1 million in Jan.-Feb. 2016 compared to Jan.-Feb. of 2015.

Azerbaijan reduced goods import from Georgia by more than 4.5 times - up to $10.1 million in Jan.-Feb. 2016 compared to Jan.-Feb. of 2015, said a report of Georgia's National Statistics Office.

Azerbaijan's specific weight in total volume of exported products from Georgia is 3.6 percent, according to the report.

Azerbaijan has been among the leaders of goods import from Georgia for a long time.

However, Azerbaijan took the eighth place by this indicator according to the results of Jan.-Feb. due to a temporary ban on imports of cattle from Georgia, as well as a sharp reduction in exports of cars and other products.

Azerbaijan imported goods worth $240.4 million from Georgia in 2015 and took the first place by this indicator. Azerbaijan imported Georgian goods worth $45.92 million in Jan.-Feb. 2015.

The trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan was $103.84 million (reduced by 29.5 percent during the year) in Jan.-Feb. 2016, said the report.

The specific weight of Azerbaijan's trade turnover with Georgia is 7.3 percent of the total volume of this country's foreign trade operations.
