“The Center on Multimedia Information Systems and Technologies, which proposed to establish an expenditure article on provision of information for government bodies, currently enforces the efforts in this direction,” Osman Gunduz, the Director of the Center, told Trend.

He also noted the inclusion of Article on Information Expenses’ into the budget was important, as there was not similar item in the Azerbaijani public budget.

“The article should comprise two parts. We submitted the appropriate proposals to the government bodies, including the Ministries of Economic Development and Information Technologies, which sent positive replies.

However, the Finance Ministry did not consider them expedient, stressing that the existing classification of budget meets the international standards,” he said.

Gunduz noted that he had a meeting with local representative of the World Bank in this respect and clarified their opinion.

“They said that the approval of the existing classification of the budget does not mean that we should wait for new problems to inject changes. The international experts expressed their readiness to discuss our proposals,” he stated.

Gunduz also underlined that he will meet with representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) soon and informed them about the proposal concerning the classification of the budget.

It is planned to stage a conference shortly with the participation of the concerned ministries, state bodies and international experts to discuss the projection of a new article. “We will continue our efforts until solution of this issue,” he assured.
