SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) sold 288,490 metric tons of oil products on the Georgian market in 2014 compared to about 295,740 metric tons in 2013, SOCAR Energy Georgia told Trend Feb. 12.

Around 17,900 metric tons of the total volume of oil products sold in Georgia accounted for gasoline, 245,860 metric tons - diesel fuel, 34,500 metric tons - jet fuel, 657 metric tons - fuel oil, 4,250 metric tons - bitumen, over 11,500 metric tons - liquefied gas.

SOCAR exported 2.15 billion cubic meters of gas to Georgia in 2014 or by 248.1 million cubic meters (10.5 percent) more in 2013.

Oil products in Georgia are sold through SOCAR Energy Georgia. It represents the interests of SOCAR in this country and has several subsidiaries.

Earlier, oil products were produced at two Baku oil refineries. Both oil refineries belonged to SOCAR, which annually processes approximately 7 million metric tons of oil, extracted from onshore and offshore fields with SOCAR's own funds. However, in December 2014 SOCAR announced about the elimination of Azneftyag refinery and its merger with the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery.
