Indonesia will soon send its Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said to Azerbaijan, The Jakarta Post quoted Coordinating Economic Minister of Indonesia Sofyan Djalil as saying May 28.

"Azerbaijan is an important trading partner of Indonesia, especially in the energy sector," Djalil said during Azerbaijan's National Republic Day celebration at the JW Marriott Hotel in Jakarta.

"We will soon send our energy and mineral resources minister to Azerbaijan to explore more opportunities and boost cooperation," said the minister.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Indonesia Tamerlan Garayev told The Jakarta Post that Azerbaijan is currently one of the biggest suppliers of crude oil to Indonesia and the second-biggest trading partner of Indonesia among the CIS countries.

"Our bilateral trade with Indonesia reached nearly $2.5 billion in 2014," Garayev said.
