Azerbaijan intends to invest in the creation of an asphalt plant in Ukraine, Vadym Sydiachenko, the Ukrainian embassy’s first secretary for economic issues, told Trend.

Sydiachenko said the volume of Azerbaijani investments in Ukraine totaled $200 million over the past time.

These investments were mainly put in construction and maintenance of vehicles, he noted.

“We know that Azerbaijani companies have proved themselves to be good in construction and reconstruction of roads,” said Sydiachenko, adding the development of infrastructure is the number one problem in Ukraine.

“Thus, this project is of great interest for the country,” he added.

Azerbaijan has already made investments in the development of road infrastructure abroad. The country issued a loan worth 300 million euros for construction of the Ljig-Preljina highway in Serbia.

The highway’s total length is 40.3 kilometers. Along the highway, 86 bridges and four tunnels were built. Azerbaijan’s AzVirt LLC was the project’s main contractor.
