Launching of the presentation container train for attracting additional freight to the transport corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) is schedule till the year-end, the national secretary of Azerbaijan in the TRACECA Intergovernmental commission, Akif Mustafayev told Trend.
According to him, the issue of the train launching was discussed in Tbilisi at the sitting
of the Coordinating group, which involved the officials of the Azerbaijan’s Transport Ministry, of the Georgian Ministry of Economic Development, of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan.
The launching of the container train, consisting of 28 wagons in the first stage will be an advertising action thanks to which the freight traffic through the TRACECA corridor will increase considerably starting with 2006.
Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan agreed on the introduction of identical tariffs for container goods carriage through the corridor at the working meeting at the Aktau port in late October for the increase of the freight traffic. The price for 1 ton/km of freight will be $0,022.
