Baku International Sea Trade Port transshipped 1.1 million metric tons of oil cargo in 2014, compared to 1.41 million metric tons in 2013, a source at Baku sea port told Trend.

"The volume of oil cargo transshipment dropped by 22 percent as of 2014, compared to 2013," said the source.

Baku International Sea Trade Port, founded in 1902, has sea trade relations with Caspian Sea countries and has access to the world markets through the Volga-Don and Volga-Baltic waterways.

It serves as a link in the transport chain linking the Georgian ports in the Black Sea with Central Asian countries, and is a major transportation hub in the Europe-Caucasus-Asia corridor.

The port has the capacity to process up to 10 million metric tons of bulk cargo and up to 9-10 million metric tons of general cargo per year.
