By Huseyn Hasanov - Trend: The sixth meeting of the Turkmen-Austrian joint commission was held in Vienna (Austria). The heads and representatives of some state agencies and business circles of the two countries attended it, Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary state news service said on Friday.

According to the report, the Austrian side was headed by Federal Minister for Foreign Economic Policy and European Integration Bernadette Gierlinger.

The representatives of the department of the Federal Chancellor, Economic Chamber of Austria and others were included in the Austrian delegation.

"The meeting focused on the need to intensify efforts to increase the volume of mutual trade," a statement said.

The parties managed to specify the measures aimed at increasing the export-import operations and expanding the range of supplied goods and services.

According to the report, the sides discussed prospects of cooperation in the energy sector, including the development of renewable energy sources, innovative technologies in the oil, gas and petrochemical spheres at the sixth meeting of the commission in Vienna.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a recent government meeting stressed the dynamic nature of the interaction with Austria.

Turkmenistan is one of the most promising partners for Austria and the European Union in the field of energy security and the opportunity to diversify the sources of supply of raw materials.

Vienna shows interest in wholesale purchases of Turkmen textiles.

Construction, health and tourism are among the priority areas of partnership. The two countries periodically conduct business forums. Such companies as WOMA GmbH, Schoeller Bleckmann AG, Unger Stahlbau GmbH, Schrack Seconet AG, Oswelt GmbH, AME Interhational, Landhof, Schlafhorst, Truetzschler, Uster, Strabag SE show interest in the Turkmen market.
