Kazakhstan will get access to the international database on counterfeits by late 2015, the country's Health Minister Salidat Kairbekova said at a briefing held at the Central Communications Service under the president of Kazakhstan.

"Preparations for accreditation of a test center are underway. We will need a unified information system on counterfeit medical products within the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space," she stressed.

Kairbekova went on to add that currently, the main aim is to join the Council of Europe Convention on the counterfeiting of medical products and similar crimes involving threats to public health.

"The center must enter the European network of official medicines control laboratories of the European Pharmacopoeia. It is expected that this will enhance the capabilities of laboratories by mutual exchange of test results, as well access to the international database on counterfeit and falsified medicines," the minister added.
