BP reduces volume of associated gas in Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli in 2013

In 2013, BP (British Petrolium), which is the operator of the exploration of the field "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea, supplied to SOCAR Company (the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) 2. 19 billion of cubic meters of gas versus 3.4 billion of cubic meters in 2012, the BP`s report issued on Feb. 13 said.

Associated gas within the framework of the exploration of "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" is supplied to SOCAR for free.

In 2013, BP planned to pass 1.24 billion of cubic meters of associated gas to SOCAR.

The volume of gas passed to SOCAR in 2013 was six million of cubic meters.

As a result of the conducted work, the volume of associated gas in Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli reduced by 45 percent compared with the indicator of 2012 and was just 2.6 percent, which is one of the best indicators in Europe.

The contract on the exploration of Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli was signed in 1994. The proved oil supplies of the field are estimated in the amount of one billion tons.

The share participation in the contract has been distributed in the following way: BP (operator in "Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli") - 35,78 percent, "Chevron" - 11,27 percent, "Inpex" - 10,96 percent, AzACG - 11,65 percent, "Statoil" - 8,56 percent, "Exxon" - eight percent, ТРАО - 6,75 percent, "Itocu" - 4,3 percent and ONGC - 2,72 percent.
