Kazakhstan’s Aktau Port tranship over 3 million tonnes of oil cargo in H1, 2014

In the first half of 2014, the Aktau International Sea Trading Port of Kazakhstan transhipped 3.13 million tonnes of oil, according to a message posted on the port's website.

In 2013, the port transhipped over 6.28 million tonnes of oil cargo, compared to about 7.6 million tonnes in 2012.

A part of the oil transhipped through the Aktau Port, is being transported to the Azerbaijani capital of Baku, from where it is then delivered to the Black Sea ports of Georgia by railway.

Some 565,000 tonnes out of 2.23 million tonnes of dry cargo transhipped in January-June 2014 accounted for steel products, some 955,000 tonnes for ferry cargo, some 475,000 tonnes for grain, and some 238,000 tonnes for other kinds of cargo, according to the message.

In January-June, the Aktau Port transhipped 5.36 million tonnes of cargo.

There were 866 ship calls at the Aktau Port between January and June.

In total, in 2013, the port transhipped 10.08 million tonnes of cargos, or 3.1 percent higher than the forecasted volume.
