President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a decree on awarding of a group of social workers in connection with the 23rd anniversary of the independence of the country.
"Some 158 people working in the fields of science, education, literature, culture, art, media were awarded with honorary titles, orders and medals for a significant contribution in strengthening of the independence of the country, the development of the national idea, the revival of spirituality, improving self-consciousness of the people, the brilliant talent and creativity, scientific activities, selfless work, education of harmoniously developed generation in the spirit of love for the motherland and the people, loyalty to the ideas of independence and active participation in public life," says the decree.
The honorary titles of Honored and National Artist, national Bakhshi, national master, national teacher, national hofiz (actor), youth mentor, journalist, culture figure, health worker, coach and athlete, national education figure were assigned to 44 citizens.
Some 114 representatives of these areas were awarded with medals and orders, including 54 people - with orders, and 60 with medals.
