Tehran, Iran, April 29

By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:

The Indian government has doubled taxes on polymer and some other petrochemicals imported from Iran.

The increase came closely after the West removed sanctions on Iran in early 2016, Marzieh Tavasoli, director of trade at the Iranian Khorasan Petrochemical Co. told Mehr news agency April 29.

The Indian taxes on Iran's petrochemical products now stand at 13 percent, she said.

Khorasan Petrochemical Co. used to export 9,000 tons of melamine crystal to India, but now the company is finding the export lacking economic justification.

Tavasoli went on to predict that in the new situations, European countries such as Spain and Germany would make good destinations for Iranian-made melamine crystal.
