Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has signed a decree to expel corrupt officials involved in a recent scandal over eccentrically high salaries.

The order was addressed to First Vice President Es'haq Jahangiri for execution, IRIB news agency reported June 12.

Stressing the high payments as "misuse of governments' trust", Rouhani said the illegally paid sums of money should be refunded, the corrupt officials dismissed, and a full report of the actions prepared.

It has been recently made public that a number of top officials with the Central Insurance of Iran were receiving monthly salaries in the amount of $13,000-26,000, that is, 20 to 40 times more than an ordinary white collar employee gets in the country.
